Are you looking to make a change?  Undaunted by snow, wind or cold?  Excited by challenging cases, unique cultural influences, innovative and motivated colleagues?  Then we want to talk to you.

The Legal Services Board of Nunavut (Nunavut Legal Aid) is seeking a lawyer to join its growing poverty/civil law group.  The position will expose the successful candidate to a world of social justice advocacy one can only dream about in law school.  Protecting tenants’ rights, righting wrongful dismissals, being innovators in the prosecution of human rights matters are what can be expected.  The position will also entail travelling to remote communities to meet with the public, school groups, elders and community leaders to advance access to justice through public legal education projects.  This opportunity is as much an adventure as it is a career.

We are looking for lawyers ready to use their skills and passion for social justice in new ways to contribute to an emerging justice system.  The work is pioneering, the impact is profound - and not just for our clients.

Canada’s newest Territory was founded on principles of service to the community, consensus-based decision making and a profound respect for the land. The societal values espoused in Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit (Inuit traditional knowledge) inform all aspects of life in Nunavut, making the practice of law in Nunavut truly unique.
